About Tacket

Tacket is a shared notebook for longer-form writing on books, paper and making.

The writing often grows out of ongoing research and practice, including work first shared on Instagram, but is shaped for a longer format that allows space for historical context, material detail and close observation. It’s a place to think through how objects are made, why particular materials were chosen, and what physical evidence can tell us about use, intent and context over time.

Posts may take the form of short essays, working notes, or focused studies of specific materials, techniques or objects. Topics range from Japanese books and papers to historical inks, material economies and observations from ongoing projects.

I’m a book and paper conservator, with a background in book history and material research. My interests sit between practice and study, particularly how historical context, material properties and patterns of use shape the objects we encounter today.

Tacket is published occasionally, roughly monthly. There’s no expectation to read everything in order or to keep up. It’s intended as a resource you can return to at your own pace.
